Inclusion policy

We strive to provide equal opportunities and a welcoming environment for all, fully recognising that certain groups and individuals in our society face discrimination. No two children have the same needs. Regardless of special educational needs, disability, mental health or medical conditions, race, culture, class, creed, gender, or social status, every child has the right to express their needs and have them met.

world map by the children

Every child has a right to simply belong, be, and become!

At the International Montessori School, we welcome a diverse community:  including those who differ by age, culture, race, beliefs, gender, ability, appearance, class, lifestyle, life status, sexuality, family composition, and language. All members of our community will be treated with equality, fairness, and dignity.
When a child with a disability or learning difficulty joins us, we carefully consider our ability to support their needs. If we determine another facility may better serve their development, we will recommend that option in the child’s best interest.

We believe an inclusive program fosters:

Every child has access to the curriculum and activities, with thoughtful adjustments to daily routines and the environment to meet individual needs.

A sense of belonging and acceptance

Developmentally appropriate practices where children learn skills
alongside their classmates

Opportunities to form friendships and develop positive attitudes toward
themselves and others

We treat all children equally and foster an understanding that everyone has something important to contribute.
Please note: As a small school with limited resources, we carefully manage the proportion of children with special educational needs admitted each year.
This allows us to provide effective individualized support while maintaining the quality of education and care for the entire community.
